M. J. Soileau, Ph.D.
Dr. Soileau is the Vice President for Research and Commercialization and Distinguished Professor of Optics ECE, and Physics, at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
M. J. Soileau received a bachelor’s degree in Astronomy and Physics from Louisiana State University, a master’s degree in Physics/Optics from the University of Utah and a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering/Quantum Electronics from the University of Southern California. He has published over 170 technical and scientific papers in the general areas of optics, laser induced damage to optical materials and nonlinear optics.
Dr. Soileau served as an officer in the United States Air Force and worked as a Research Scientist for the U. S. Navy.
M. J. Soileau is active in community service and serves on a variety of boards and committees, which include the Florida Research Consortium and the UCF Research Foundation. He is the recipient of many honors and awards, such as the Gold Medal of the SPIE and the OSA Ester Hoffman Beller Award.
