THE CENTER FOR SPACE EDUCATION
This "living memorial" to the astronauts has a twofold mission:
To foster an understanding of space exploration among young people, teachers, and Kennedy Space Center visitors.
To improve American education through the accelerated and effective application of technology in our schools.
The Center for Space Education was dedicated in 1994. The design and construction of the building was funded through the voluntary contributions of hundreds of thousands of Florida citizens who purchased Challenger license plates.
In addition, more than 300 corporate partners have contributed to The Center for Space Education.
This 47,000 square-foot facility has won three architectural awards. It is located on six acres at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which draws nearly three-million visitors each year.
SPACE EDUCATION AT THE CENTER
NASA conducts many space education programs at The Center. The popular Exploration Station, run by the NASA Public Engagement Center, hosts training and activities for more than 18,000 teachers and students each year and supports numerous educational opportunities. School groups take part in free hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities as well as demonstration or guest speaker type programs.
NASA's PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT CENTER
NASA Education Specialists offer free educational programs in STEM disciplines to educators and K-12 school age students. These programs promote innovative technology and space exploration and are taught at the Astronauts Memorial Foundation Center for Space Education - home of the NASA Public Engagement Center (PEC) at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. In addition, our Education Specialists are also able to bring NASA-inspired programs to your site (restrictions on distance apply).

Through the Public Engagement Center (PEC), educators can access NASA resources to develop their own educational programs by appointment only. The facilities and staff at the center will assist teachers in gathering ideas, exploring curriculum, planning educational visits and more. Please call 321-867-4090 or email us at ksc-dl-pec@mail.nasa.gov to request a NASA Educator Packet. You will need to provide Name, School Name, School Address, Grade Levels taught, and Email Address. Keep in mind all resources we provide are free public domain and located on NASA Education Website.
